This year, the virtual summer school again boasted international attendance – 86 participants from 31 different countries, from Portugal and the Ivory Coast to the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
The ten-day summer school offered participants insight into intercultural communication through online lectures and assignments which they had to complete during the Cross-Cultural Communication course. The summer school also offered a visiting lecture by Dr Svitlana Buko, expert on intercultural management, who captured the students’ attention with her lecture on the development of intercultural competencies and a look into her personal experience with working in different countries across the globe.
“This was my first experience with a summer school but I must say that this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love the fact that participating in the summer school has allowed me to develop a better understanding of other cultures and see how different they can be despite being geographically close to one another.” (Cláudia Peças, Portugal)
