Hackathon – Hack the Waste 2022. Solving current problems from the field of waste management, this year with a special focus on the field of food management, the food industry and sustainable development.
The project promoter is UCLL from Belgium and in addition to DOBA Business School and its students, teachers/tutors and expert associates there are also 11 other partner institutions from Belgium, South Africa, Brazil, Latvia, Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands participating – all members of Businet, a global network of higher education institutions based in Belgium. In the 24-hour Hackathon, which will take place from 25 to 26 March, students from different fields of study will work in international teams, which will ensure interdisciplinarity (business, IT, circular economy, finance, etc.), and address challenges in the field of waste management in different sectors, this year with a focus on waste management in the food industry, etc.

The participation in international projects and the expansion of the network of partner institutions are among the key strategies of DOBA Business School. Previous experience with international projects is very good, as in addition to the work done on the international project, there are also other forms of cooperation with partner institutions such as virtual mobility, staff and teacher mobility, study visits, and joint scientific and research work.
