The Olympic Committee of Slovenia extended the validity of the Athlete-Friendly Education certificate of DOBA Business School.
DOBA Business School meets the conditions for a developed approach to promoting dual careers and providing athlete-friendly education, for which we have again received the Olympic Committee’s Athlete-Friendly Education certificate for 2023.
Athletes, who consider studying, often see time constraints and balancing their studies with their commitments as the biggest obstacles to studying. More than 50 top Slovenian athletes have already confirmed that DOBA Business School is indeed the right choice for athletes. Among them is Olympic gold medallist Urška Žolnir, who is also one of the ambassadors of online learning at DOBA Business School.
The athletes enrolled at DOBA Business School emphasise the possibility of fully online learning, adaptation, flexibility, fast response, and a personal approach/relationship as the key advantages of their studies.
Why does DOBA Business School offer a friendly and efficient pathway to graduation for athletes?
The DOBA online learning model is based on a personal approach to the student. Even before the start of the courses, personal advisers focus on each student, provide face-to-face or online counselling, and present the process of online learning and possible adjustments to suit the individual student’s needs.
Personal academic advisers also play a special role during the course of the studies, ensuring that the student’s journey is as smooth as possible from day one. They monitor students during their studies and guide and motivate them to take a proactive approach to their studies and to complete their studies. In case of difficulties, students work with the adviser to determine their study path so that students can complete their studies successfully even in the case of unexpected problems.
During their studies, students are also supported by online tutors who motivate them and answer any questions that they might have about the course (including over the weekend). They also remind students of assignment deadlines and webinars and encourage them to help each other.
Specific adjustments for athletes include studying according to an individualised study plan, the possibility of late submission of assignments, additional exam dates and knowledge assessment outside the competition period, extension of student status, approval of conditional enrolment, and the possibility of individual work (in the case of team assignments in the course).
DOBA’s financial support for athletes
The DOBA Learning Fund will be used to provide EUR 300.00 to athletes enrolling for the first time in any study programme at DOBA Business School or Higher Vocational College in the 2023/2024 academic year, thus reducing their tuition fees by this amount.
