Managers rise, they peak and experience fluctuation at the highest level. However, when at the highest level of ability, the fluctuation is more limited and can cause manager’s psycho-physical abilities to vary. All too often managers forget to maintain proper physical condition.
Successful managers take care of their bodies, well-being, fitness, balance ... In order to deal with stress they are physically, psychologically and mentally very strong. It is completely normal and common for managers to work out, relax, take care of themselves during working hours and because of this are more creative and consequently more successful. They have treadmills in their offices or fitness gyms in their office buildings where they can exercise during their breaks. In most cases managers would hire a personal trainer that comes to their office gym and helps them exercise.
Unfortunately, most managers do not have a fitness gym in their office buildings. We would suggest that they exercise in the morning before going to work. Therefore, if a manager starts work at 7 or 8 in the morning, then exercise can be done before that for example at 5 or 6 in the morning. This seems the most reasonable solution for managers on a very tight schedule, with family and other commitments. However, in the case of good time management, exercise can be done during working hours or even after work. What we have in mind here are 3-4 hours of exercise a week, 1-2 during the week and 1-2 during the weekend. Lack of time should not be an excuse.
Many people suggest doing different exercises on a chair, which is welcomed.
Nevertheless, exercising without equipment that limits your movement is much more sensible as most of us already sit during work. For example, muscles controlling stability, walking, moving are not used during sitting. Therefore it is much more sensible to stand up, stabilise your spine and activate your hips, knees and abdominal muscles. One should do a set of 4-5 exercises 1-2 times a day. The sets should not take longer than 10-15 minutes. It should be noted that it is highly recommended to consult with an expert about these exercises as not all exercises are universal and appropriate for everybody. Only experts can determine individual’s abilities and limits, help them set goals and prescribe a set of suitable exercises.
A successful and healthy manager has to be in control of their diet as well. And, this starts in the morning. Breakfast! Breakfast gives you energy. If exercise is in the morning before work, breakfast has to be light (the meal should be easy to digest, e.g. protein drink, yogurt, cottage cheese). After exercise, a more complex meal is needed. Plus, two meals in the morning already provide enough energy for at least the first half of the day.
Managers are under a lot of pressure and stress, as their role includes having great responsibilities, managing of a lot of people and a lot of money ... In haste and with all the commitments they usually forget about themselves. There are no benefits to being a successful manager of a successful company and having a lot of money if health problems cause an early end to a period of climb and growth.
Only a healthy manager is also a successful manager.
